Security forces rescue abducted Moreh resident in swift operation

Security forces have successfully rescued a 50-year-old man who was allegedly abducted by suspected militants from Manipur’s border town of Moreh and reunited him with his family following a swift search operation. The rescued individual, identified as Ngamsom Baite, is a resident of B. Bongjang Village in Moreh under Tengnoupal district. According to officials, Baite was allegedly kidnapped by suspected cadres of a proscribed militant outfit, prompting an immediate response from security agencies. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, security personnel launched a coordinated search and rescue operation in and around Moreh. During the operation, Baite was traced and rescued from the Gate No. 1 area under the jurisdiction of Moreh Police Station.

Officials said the operation was conducted efficiently, ensuring the victim’s safe recovery without any reported injuries. After being provided necessary assistance, Baite was handed over to his family members. The successful rescue has brought relief to local residents and the victim’s family, who had been anxiously awaiting his return since reports of the alleged abduction surfaced. Authorities have launched an investigation to identify those responsible and determine the motive behind the incident. Moreh, a strategically important town along the India-Myanmar border, remains under heightened security surveillance amid ongoing efforts to curb militant activities and maintain law and order.

Security agencies reiterated their commitment to protecting civilians and continuing operations against unlawful and insurgent elements in the sensitive border region.
