Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reinforced its commitment to India’s clean energy transition at the India Energy Week (IEW) 2025, held in New Delhi from February 11 to 14. As India accelerates toward energy independence and net-zero emissions, Toyota’s multi-pathway approach to sustainable mobility highlights the economic potential of alternative fuel technologies and localized manufacturing. At the event, TKM showcased a diverse range of low-emission powertrains, including the Innova Hycross Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle (SHEV), the Prius Flex-Fuel Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (FFV-PHEV), an Urban Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Concept, and the Mirai Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) powered by hydrogen. The company also emphasized its locally manufactured e-Drive sub-system, reinforcing India’s role as a global player in sustainable automotive solutions under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The economic impact of Toyota’s strategy extends beyond reducing fossil fuel dependence. By promoting ethanol-based alternatives, Toyota aligns with India’s agricultural economy, potentially increasing rural employment and reducing the country’s fuel import bill. Furthermore, investments in localized production of electric vehicle components strengthen domestic supply chains, making clean mobility solutions more affordable and accessible. Mr. Vikram Gulati, Country Head & EVP – Corporate Affairs and Governance, TKM, emphasized, “India Energy Week is a pivotal platform to drive awareness on sustainable transportation. Toyota remains committed to advancing India’s decarbonization journey by integrating innovative and localized clean energy solutions.”
As India navigates the economic and environmental imperatives of mobility transformation, TKM’s approach demonstrates how strategic investments in sustainable transportation can drive industrial growth, job creation, and energy security while reinforcing India’s global competitiveness in the clean mobility sector.
